Welcome to the ultimate hand-painted slate art and signage in America!
I paint what makes me smile. This is accomplished with clear, bold color; and subjects I find beautiful as well as delightful. This is done in the hope my patrons will smile or feel a connection to my work in one of several ways; color, subject, texture, or nostalgia.
I love rocks and have chosen slate as my canvas instead of the woven fabric. The connection with prehistory painting on rocks is a responsibility I take seriously. Slate gathered in the quarries of Vermont and studio shaped has become my signature canvas.
Naturally textured and earth colored slate makes a wonderful foundation background for my painting. Using acrylics, I work fast and keep mixing to an absolute minimum, enabling clean-bold color to showcase my subjects. After observing nature at play, I paint backyard birds, flowers of all types and colors, and the newest entry into my repertoire, wines. Color of course being main criteria and the brighter cleaner the color-the better
Liking wine, I have found the bottles most interesting and some are just downright fun. Mixing in a few fruits, a book or two, and of course the wine creates a satisfying pause in the hectic lives we lead. There is no political statement, our daily lives are bombasted with politics; no comment on interpreting life in an awe inspiring or mind numbing way...just a time out for my patrons with familiar friends and a smile.
